Challenge #4 - All About Textures
This challenge continues to provide experience with using plug-ins and the Orbit Traps formula of Damien Jones. Proper application of texture can turn a hum-hum image into a work of art. With UltraFractal 4 texture application was a challenging operation, and many formula writers included various texture options in the coloring formulas to make texture application more flexible. With the advent of UltraFractal 5, the ways to apply texture was dramatically increased, and along with the increase came new challenges. This challenge will concentrate on using the Texture trap slot and some of the ways the slot can be used. Because this is a broad topic, there will be at least one more challenge dedicated to textures. The user is advised to look at the tutorial on textures before starting this challenge. The rules for Challenge #4 are the following:
Do not change the seed, formula or location
Limit the upr to two layers
Any trap shape can be use in the Trap shape slot including TrapShape Merge
No transforms other than Trap Position can be used, as transforms can add texture independent of a trap shape texture.
No limitations on the gradient
Replace Flat Texture that is in the Trap texture slot with a trap shape texture of your choosing. A TrapShape Block can be used if required for texture sizing (see the tutorial). The adventurous can use TrapShape Merge with two or more trap shape textures.
Any trap shape texture used must not obscure the basic shape determined by the main trap shape plugin.
